Every Child Matters requires that agencies work together in providing joined-up services to support children in their learning and development. These courses explore practical ways to use reading to connect practitioners in delivering such services.

As with all of Jerry's training, sessions can be tailored to specific local needs. Jerry is also happy to create new courses. Training is adaptable to Library, School, Archive, Theatre, Arts, Museum, Heritage, Sports and Leisure settings.

Training options include:

  • Reading making connections: partnership working with looked-after young people and residential care staff
  • Stronger together! Effective partnership working with schools

Areas commonly explored across these training options:

  • Finding common agendas
  • Policy and research evidence to support joint work focused on reading
  • Best practice and case studies
  • How partnerships might work
  • Overcoming potential barriers to partnership
  • Reading ideas and activities
  • Action planning

The session was pitched at exactly the right level in content, delivery and opportunities for participation and debate. Importantly, the whole session was infused by a sympathetic understanding of exactly where the delegates were coming from in terms of their knowledge, enthusiasm, experience and capacity. Trust was established quickly and this led to a welcome openness in debate. All the delegates graded the session as 10/10 and wanted a return visit to continue the relationship.'
